SAREC was established in 2007 to support Edinburgh and Lothians, Grampian, Central Scotland, and West of Scotland RECs to be key players in the development and delivery of equality and human rights across Scotland.
Since a coalition of Racial Equality Councils was first conceived four years ago, we have come a long way, and that is thanks to the commitment and hard work of our members. SAREC was officially launched in the Scottish Parliament on 11th November 2009 in an excellent event that was addressed by the then Minister for Housing and Communities, Alex Neil MSP.
We want to work in partnership with other voluntary organisations and equalities bodies, as well as national government and local government, public and private sector organisations, and religious institutions and faith groups.
